A Good Rule of Thumb

I am convinced that a very good rule of thumb to determine whats going to work in India is-If the idea/proposal/policy has the backing of the Left, it surely is not good for us; if on the other hand it is vehemently opposed by the Left, then we should be very excited about it!

The recent National Rural Employement Guarantee Scheme is another example of something that has the backing of the Left and which on the surface seems to be very good for rural India. To me it is no different from all the "Garibhi Hatao" policies we followed or were supposed to have followed for quite a while, all of which only resulted in more numbers of poor people.
