The Hyderabad MMTS

The Hyderabad Multi-modal transit system (MMTS) really makes travelling around the city much easier. The train route is from Lingampalli to Falaknuma, via Hi-Tech city, Begumpet, Secunderabad railway station, vidyanagar and several other places. A second route goes to Hyderabad railway station. The ticket from one end of the line to another costs less than Rs 10.

I used this train service everytime I needed to travel to places on the route. No wading through traffic congestions, cheap tickets, clean stations and clean trains and faster commute to the destination. Despite all these advantages, the trains don't seem to be used as much as they should be. I believe the principal reason for this is the lack of co-ordination with the bus service. If bus services are provided to these stations and the timings of the buses and the trains are co-ordinated, the usage of the MMTS service will increase by leaps and bounds.

I really appreciate the railways and other service providers for keeping the railway stations, platforms, toilets and the trains relatively clean. The stations are well designed and provide for ample parking. I think more routes should be opened up on this service before the proposed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) is built.

Hi there, i totally agree with your observations. The railways should also insure that the MMTS trains are punctual. MMTS has the potential to reduce the congestion on the roads to a large extent.
