An Idea for Historical Research

Several historical documentaries on Discovery, National Geographic and PBS show American historians intensively studying the histories of societies and cultures based in South America, Africa, Central Asia and many other regions of the world. There are archaeologists, anthropologists and others with different areas of expertise doing their digging and exploration in those parts of the world. Almost all of them are typically based in universities.

I think it may be a very good idea to invite these men and women who have such a passion for what they are doing to come to India. There is no lack of areas with archeological and historical interest in India and I don't think it will be very difficult to convince anyone to come conduct their research in India.

The government should encourage and fund collaboration between Indian universities and universities in the US, Europe and perhaps with universities in other countries in conducting historical research. This will surely be a mutually advantageous collaboration, one that has the potential of educating us about our own history in a way that many will find interesting instead of boring.
